🚨Men’s Must Read Article🚨
Discipline is superior to motivation, and until you realize this, you will never reach your goals.
In this article by Hamza Khan on LinkedIn, he discusses how discipline is vital in your ability to reach your goals. Here are a couple of the main points.👇👇
Setting goals is easy, but achieving them requires self-discipline.
Self-discipline is essential for resisting daily temptations and working towards goals consistently.
Instant gratification has eroded self-discipline for many people.
Improving self-discipline requires intentional effort and dedication.
Motivation is temporary, while discipline produces lasting results.
Motivation doesn't last forever, and it's not motivation that is going to get you up when you don't feel like getting up, to work toward achieving your goal that you've set for yourself
Parker’s Breakdown: Motivation
Motivation comes and goes. If you rely on motivation to take you to the gym everyday, you will never achieve the goals that you want.
But discipline is what will take you far. Discipline is the only way to reach your fitness goals and here are my top 5 tips that have helped me to stay so consistent. 👇👇
Have a routine - A cheat code to having good discipline is having a good routine. Going to the gym at the same time everyday will cut out the chances of not having enough time in your day to workout. There is no “Oh I won’t workout this morning, I’ll just do it later” and then you get off of work and forget. If you have a routine, you know exactly when to go, and never question when you want to go on that day.
Have a gym partner - A buddy to workout with is huge. On days that you are not feeling it, they will convince you to go, and vice versa. I don’t know why, but every time I have a gym buddy, I want to do more weight or go for that extra rep. I don’t know if it is a competitive aspect or what, but having a gym partner keeps you liable and makes it more fun.
A crappy workout is better than no workout - If you think I go to the gym, day in and day out, and go 100%, you would be heavily mistaken. Don’t get me wrong, I try to go hard every time, but there are some days that I just feel so tired or bad. On these days, I will cut some sets, I will not go 100% on all my lifts, and I might skip some cardio. I don’t do this often, but it definitely happens because I’m not perfect. I know that just going to the gym and getting in a crappy workout is far better than no workout at all, and I’m always happy I went afterwards. So don’t try to be perfect and just get a workout in.
Make it as easy as possible - Make going to the gym as easy as possible. If you have to come home from work, change into workout clothes, drive back to the gym, and then lift, it is extremely hard. It would make it a lot easier if you brought your workout clothes with you, and went straight to the gym. Or if you workout in the mornings before work, lay out your clothes and have your coffee ready to go the night before, this way you can just wake up and go.
Accept the fact that motivation is BS - Accept the fact that you will never feel motivated all the time to go to the gym. I’ve been lifting for so long, I couldn’t even tell you the last time I was super motivated to go. I have built up so much discipline now, that it is just a part of who I am and it is non negotiable. Accept the fact that you will have days that you feel bad and won’t want to go but you are going to go anyway. Accept the fact that it won’t always be perfect, but you are going to push through and get it done!
Hope these tips help!
