🚨Men’s Must Read Article🚨
Have you ever noticed when you are around the right people, you just seem to do so much more?
Like if you are in the gym with a good friend, you seem to go for that extra rep or more weight. Or if you hang around the guy that has a great social life, your social life skyrockets as well.
Well in this article by CNBC.com, they discuss the topic of why having good friends can excel you so far in life. Here are a couple main points: 👇👇
Having a high-quality, close friendship increases resilience and ability to bounce back from hardship, contributing to success.
Buffett and Gates' decades-long friendship shows how who you befriend can greatly impact your career - they discuss ideas, trends, and business concepts.
Friends provide a protective mechanism during tough times.
Associating with those better than yourself helps you move in a positive direction.
Invest time in friendships that bring out your best.
The researchers found that those who had higher resilience the next year had a greater quality of friendship
Parker’s Breakdown: The importance of friends
Show me your five best friends and I’ll show you your next five years!
We have all heard that saying but it couldn’t be closer to the truth. It’s no coincidence that some of the most successful people in the world hangout with other successful people. It’s also no coincidence that some of the biggest losers in the world hangout with losers!
There was a study done by Stadtfeld et al. in 2019. They closely followed a cohort of engineering students at ETH Zürich (A competitive Swiss College) over their first year to understand:
How multiple social networks (positive interactions, friendships, study groups) emerge among students.
If integration in these networks impacts academic success
Their findings: 👇👇
Students integrated in social networks perform better academically and are less likely to drop out than isolated students.
Successful students had more social connections - they were named by more peers as positive interaction partners, friends, and study partners compared to those who failed.
Social integration matters for student success. Facilitating opportunities for students to develop positive relationships and group identities, both inside and outside the classroom, is critical.
The researchers advocate for designing spaces on campus that attract students, encourage collaboration, and build students' sense of connection and community.
In summary, students' informal social connections significantly impact their academic performance and retention. Fostering an environment that enables the emergence of dense social networks is key. 🔑
So in my opinion, when it comes to friendships, the more the merrier. Try to become everybody’s friend and be the guy that everyone knows. It can only help you. Lastly, make sure you are making friends that have done more than you to push to do bigger and better things!
