Parker’s Breakdown: Stress & Anxiety

A lot of people are anxious and stressed out in today’s world. With constant consumption of information from our phones, increased hours of work on average, and the ease of instant gratification, our brain never gets a break. I would say that I have a good grasp on my stress and anxiety levels and here are some of the main tips I use to keep it like that.

  1. Dedicated Outside Time - Spending time outdoors and soaking up sunlight can have a profound impact on reducing stress and anxiety levels. Exposure to natural light helps regulate the body's internal clock and promotes the production of serotonin, a hormone that contributes to feelings of well-being and happiness. Personally, I aim for at minimum two hours outside daily.

  2. Limit Phone Usage - Excessive screen time can contribute to stress and anxiety. Constant notifications, social media scrolling, and information overload can lead to overstimulation, making it difficult for our brains to relax. To combat this, I've made a conscious effort to reduce my phone usage, and I removed toxic apps such as tik tok and instagram, built to keep you scrolling for hours.

  3. Social Activities - Engaging in activities with friends can significantly reduce stress levels. Studies have shown that spending time with friends and loved ones can boost mood, increase feelings of happiness, and provide much-needed emotional support. Whether it's grabbing coffee, going for a hike, or simply enjoying each other's company, socializing can help alleviate stress and anxiety.

  4. Face Your Fears - Procrastination often leads to increased anxiety. If something is causing you anxiety, tackle it head-on. Addressing the issue directly and taking action can help alleviate feelings of stress and apprehension.

Hope this helps!
