Many times, people gravitate toward traditional diets with a strict set of rules that end up being unsustainable in the long run. A whole foods diet is different. It's a long-term, sustainable approach to shifting your eating habits and food choices.

I am only 5’10 and when I was 19 I was 225 lbs in the morning. After doing the simple tips I am about to give you all, I got down to 175 lbs in 6 months.
I have one simple tip: Focus on improving your quality of life, not the number on the scale!
We all know how to lose weight. Eat bland chicken, soggy microwaved vegetables, doing boring cardio everyday, and struggle through a 2 hour weight training routine everyday.
I don’t know about yall, but I rather enjoy my life while improving my health, so that’s exactly what I did! Weight loss should just be a by product of improving the quality of your life, but it should never be the main focus!
So when I started my weight loss journey, I created a plan to improve my life (not just my weight) and here are the main points:
First, I changed my diet. Not to bland boring chicken and vegetables and starving myself in between meals, but I changed it to whole foods. I changed my diet to grass fed beef, chicken, organic fruit, eggs, sweet potatoes, greek yogurt and nuts. This alone took care of half of my problems and I was starting to shred fat, while feeling full throughout the entire day, and was actually enjoying my meals! I recommend looking at a whole foods or paleo diet, or a animal based diet.
Second, I was getting ample amounts of sunlight and outside time. When I was fat, all I did was stay inside. My sleep schedule was terrible, I felt lethargic all the time, and I often felt down in the dumps. When I started to get myself outside for at least 2+ hours a day, walking around outside with no music or distractions, I immediately felt happier, had more energy, and my sleep improved.
Third, I only did fun cardio. For me personally, walking on a treadmill, doing a stairmaster, or doing a gym indoor bike, is the most boring thing in the world. I often would just skip cardio and wouldn’t make any progress. Where I started to see real progress was when I started to make cardio fun. I played basketball either with friends or by myself, I played pickleball, or I ran or walked with friends. Don’t overcomplicate it and find what you genuinely find fun for cardio.
Lastly, I fixed my sleep. I can’t emphasize the importance of getting good quality sleep every night and without it you will see minimal to no progress. I already made an article about sleep so go check it out!
These 4 simple tips improved my quality of life, tenfold, and as a result, I dropped 50 lbs. I enjoyed life while losing a lot of weight, because fitness doesn’t have to suck like some people make you believe. I hope these tips help!
